Linear Welding & Fabrication: The Anaheim Owner’s Guide

We stock, fabricate, and install weld-on repair parts for Linear gate operators across Anaheim, typically completing most bracket, hinge, and mount repairs in a single visit. Installed prices for Linear welding and fabrication work in Anaheim run $225 to $650 depending on the part, the amount of fabrication required, and whether we’re working on a slide or swing gate. Most Anaheim owners discover the problem the same way: the gate starts binding, a weld cracks audibly, or the operator pushes but the gate won’t move on its path.

We’re an independent repair and fabrication shop, not affiliated with Linear or its parent company. What that means for you is that we fabricate and weld the parts other companies tell you to replace. Adrian Vance started welding brackets for gates that manufacturers had stopped supporting years ago, and that habit is now a service line. If your Linear operator is sound and the metal around it is not, that’s a welding job, not a motor replacement.

Which Linear Models This Applies To

We weld and fabricate for the full range of Linear gate operators still turning up in Anaheim driveways. That includes the LRA swing arm series, the SL and SLR slide gate operators, and the newer LDO residential operators. Most of the failure we see is in the mounting: the post bracket, the gate bracket, the arm clevis, the hinge weldments, and the rack mounting tabs. The operator itself is usually fine.

Identifying your part before calling helps, but it’s not required. If you can find the model plate on the operator, that tells us the operator series. The part that failed is usually easier to identify by measuring: the bolt spacing, the bracket width, and the distance from the pivot hole to the weld face. Linear changed bracket dimensions between the older LRA models and the current production, and an older bracket won’t line up with a new arm. If you can’t measure it, we will when we arrive. Our trucks carry raw steel stock, so we can build a bracket to the exact spacing your gate needs, not just what a catalog says should fit.

On the OEM question: if the bracket or weldment is still in production and available, we use the OEM Linear part. If it’s discontinued, which is common on operators out of Anaheim driveways that were installed ten or more years ago, we fabricate at or above the OEM thickness. Our standard is to match the gauge of the original steel and then step up one size if the original was thin enough to fail on its own.

Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

Signs Your Linear Welding & Fabrication Is Failing
  • The gate shudders or hops when it starts moving. This usually means the gate bracket or post bracket has slop from an elongated bolt hole or a crack starting at the weld root. The operator is trying to push through a loose connection, and the movement you feel is the bracket shifting before the gate does.
  • A crack is visible in the bracket, hinge, or mount. Most Anaheim weld failures start at the edge of a weld bead, not in the middle of a plate. If you see a hairline line running from the toe of a weld, that’s fatigue. It will not close on its own.
  • The operator runs but the gate moves partially or not at all. A broken rack mount or sheared clevis pin will let the motor do its job while the motion never reaches the gate. This is the most common misdiagnosis we see: the owner thinks the motor is weak when the metal transmission path is gone.
  • The gate sags on the hinge side. On Linear swing operators, arm pressure against a weakened hinge weld will gradually peel the weld away. The gate itself gets heavy, the operator strains, and the hinge weldment is often the original failure point.
  • You can move the gate by hand more than a half inch without the operator moving. That play is the sum of every loose or cracked connection in the chain. On a slide gate, it usually points to rack mount or drive sprocket weld fatigue.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

Most weld-in bracket and hinge repairs on Linear operators in Anaheim run $225 to $450 installed. That includes the steel, cutting and shaping the replacement piece, welding it in place, and grinding the repair back so the gate runs clean. When the rack itself is cracked or a section needs replacing, expect $400 to $650 installed because we have to remove the old section, weld in new rack stock, and align it to the drive sprocket before the operator runs smoothly again.

Every welding and fabrication job gets a written price before we strike an arc. You’ll know the part we’re building, the steel we’re using, and the total before any work starts, which is Haven Standard Clause 1. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the weld and the part: if anything in the repair fails inside a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. We also photograph every step, from the crack we found to the finished weld, and leave that record with you.

If you want to check a bracket for a visible crack or rock the gate by hand to feel for play, that’s safe and useful. If you can send a photo before we arrive, even better. What we don’t recommend is attempting to weld a gate bracket yourself unless you’re a competent welder with the right equipment. Structural welds on a moving gate carry load and vibration; a cold weld or a weld without proper penetration fails fast, and a gate that parts from its operator or its hinges while moving is heavy and dangerous. High-tension gate hardware and structural weldments are not a first welding project.

We’re in Anaheim throughout the week, and we carry steel stock, welding equipment, and fabrication tools on the truck. If you call (657) 567-5799, a live person answers. We’ll tell you over the phone whether we think we’re fixing the part or replacing it, and what the likely range is before we even schedule the visit.
