• Intercom audio is faint, distorted, or one-way. This is usually the intercom speaker cone or the amplifier circuit on the DEIMOS board. Anaheim’s dry heat doesn’t cause this directly, but it does age the speaker cone faster than coastal humidity would.
• The keypad works for some codes but not others. BFT keypads store codes in memory slots. When one slot corrupts, you get exactly this: partial function. The fix is a full memory clear and re-entry, not a part replacement.

DIY or Call Us?

What you can safely do: confirm the green power LED is on, check that the circuit breaker for the gate operator hasn’t tripped, and note exactly which buttons or functions are failing. That information helps us quote the job accurately over the phone.

What you should not do: open the keypad faceplate with power still applied, splice into the wiring harness, or take a multimeter to the BFT control board unless you’re comfortable with low-voltage logic circuits. These parts run on low voltage (12 to 24 volts AC/DC depending on the series), but a misstep on the wrong terminal can take out the control board altogether and turn a $200 keypad repair into a $700 board replacement.
